Former priest turned politician, Monsi Cris dela Cruz was appointed yesterday as the Regional President of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

PFP Regional Chairman Bienvenido Ebarle Jr. officially declared the appointment of Dela Cruz in a simple program held at the Lantaka Hotel.

In a press conference, Dela Cruz said the newly created party has already been accredited by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

“I believe in the party’s credibility and I assure you that I will work hard for the better future of our citizens here in Zamboanga,” Dela Cruz said.

Asked what position he will run in the coming midterm elections, Dela Cruz said that he will either run for councilor or congress in District 1.

He said the party has given him two Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) giving him to decide until October 17, the last day of the filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC).

“In my 40 years in the city, I have never stopped helping the Chirstians, Muslims and Lumads. There is no discrimination,” he continued.

Asked whether he is opting for an alliance with Congressman Mannix Dalipe, he said, for now it is still a secret.

He said that his entering once more in the world of politics is a response to the clamor of the people under his district. (SS)
