A businesswoman was beaten and robbed by an unidentified suspect, who pretended to be a customer at Jensen Store in MCLL Highway, Barangay Putik, this city on Monday.

Police Station 5 commander Chief Inspector Salvador Galvez identified the victim as Jessibel Garcia, 53, of Barangay Tumaga.

Galvez said the suspect went at Jensen Store at past 4:00 in the afternoon and bought a bottle of cola.

Police investigation shows that the victim and the suspect had a heated altercation when the suspect did not pay the exact amount for the soft drink.

Accordingly, the suspect hit the victim with the soft drink bottle then forcibly took her bag containing more or less P13,000.

Galvez said the victim was rushed to Zamboanga Peninsula (ZAMPEN) hospital for medical attention while the suspect fled towards unknown direction.

The police are now conducting a deeper investigation to identify and arrest the suspect. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
