Dalipe: Proposed 800-bed capacity of ZCMC nears approval

Congressman Mannix Dalipe yesterday expressed optimism that his amended bill increasing the bed capacity of the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) from 500 to 800 will be  received and acted favorably by Senate President Tito Sotto III.

Dalipe said that House of Representatives acting Secretary Dante Roberto Maling has already submitted nine enrolled copies of House Bill No. 6742 for the signature of  Senate Secretary Myra Marie Villarica and Sotto.

If realized, Dalipe said that this is the greatest gift to the ZCMC on its centennial anniversary.

The congressman emphasized that his bill called for the amendment of R.A. No. 7272 entitled An Act Converting the Zamboanga Regional Hospital into the Zamboanga City Medical Center and appropriating funds thereof, is in fact now one step closer for the signing of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Dalipe thanked Senator JV Ejercito for the support given to his bill in the Senate.

He said patients of the ZCMC do not only come from Zamboanga City but from the entire Region-9 as well, and also even from the island provinces of Sulu, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi, thus the need to increase its bed capacity should be the paramount concern of both the Lower House and Senate.

Dalipe said the hospital is one of the most modern public hospitals in the region that caters to the poorest of the poor.

The medical institution is now equipped with modern equipment such as the CT Scan, modern X Ray machines, Cancer machines and many others.

Dalipe said that as representative of Zamboanga City, he wants to ensure that necessary infrastructure and logistical support shall be regularly provided to the ZCMC by the  national government.

“And as your humble congressman, we would like to ensure that we are always making prompt and strong representation with the national government for the benefit of our public  hospital here,” Dalipe stressed. (SS)
