As predicted on Wednesday, “…am not so sure of Monday’s (SS edition, that is). Just keep watch please.” Yes, SS missed seeing print yesterday.

Following the then Barangay Captain Boday Cabato, now city councilor, feat - yesterday’s 1st Semester General Assembly under sister Aimie swelled with close to 400 attendee-constituents at the Baliwasan covered Court.

It was witnessed and participated in by Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) Rosita C. Catalbas, representing DILG City Director Mohammad Taha Arakama; Police Station 11 Chief, Sup Ariston Limos, Charlie Company Army Commander 1st Lt. Francis Salcedo, Baliwasan District Schools Superviosr and concurrent Principal of the Baliwasan Central School Dr. Fely Acabano and staffers of the Baliwasan Social Welfare Office and Baliwasan Health Centers.

Local Government representative Catalbas gave a thumb’s up sign in the handling and conduct of the activity. “Perfect” was her description of it, and she was the last of the guests to leave.

By Aimie’s standards though, the affair only near perfect. Due to the unexpected bulge of participants on-the-spot coking had to be resorted, thus, food serving to the second and third batches of participants was delayed. As a matter of fact to over 50 attendees who still had obligations at home and left before food was ready for serving, their packed lunches were later patiently delivered to their homes in three separate areas in the community.

In sum, as the minor oversight was skillfully cured - human as we all are - SS agrees with LGOO Catalbas by normal standards, the handling and conduct yesterday of the general assembly in Baliwasan, was as in her words, “Perfect.”

Dist. 1 Cong. Celso Lobregat moves to fast track a P360-million flood control project for the city’s city town proper to solve perennial flooding in the city’s center.

Lobregat said, “Since the pinpointed location in that flood prone area in town is below sea level, we cannot let it remain that way forever because all the establishments and motorists who utilize such roads have suffered much due to floods, we must find a solution immediately”

He is currently doing the requisite representation and follow-up with the DPWH to achieve his goal

And the Master Plan for the flood mitigation is under preparations. Plans will then be laid out for the purchase of a property at the end of Pilar Street to house a pumping station.

The plan and funding for the project’s implementation, Lobregat had laboriously lobbied in the Manila hierarchy, is included in the 2018 General Appropriations Act.

Lobregat extended his gratitude to former DPWH Sec. Babes Singson and current DPWH Sec. Mark Villar for its inclusion under Pres. Duterte’s Build, Build, Build program.

Taqui pa un Duterte-Duterte, quien debesaran Duterte (Here is another Duterte-like, and is actually a Dutere.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Friday asked her father, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, to nix his reopening peace talks with the communist rebels, casting doubts on their sincerity after they burned close to a dozen pieces of heavy equipment in three barangays in    Davao.

She said, the NDFP [National Democratic Front of the Philippines] and the Communist Party of the Philippines and its armed wing, the New People’s Army [NPA], are insincere, dishonest, and uncommitted to working toward the direction of peace and reciprocating the gesture government has offered, “… there are no indications at all that they are willing to negotiate for a peaceful resolution of the conflict,” she concluded.

Pres. Duterte is back in the country with a P4-billion grant from the government of China and around $9 billion worth of investment pledges from private Chinese businessmen.

P4b plus $9 billion! That’ a lot of perks.

Yet, look at this trying hard senatorial angry bird of a partyist congressman Gary Alejano, spitting criticisms, describing the Duterte trip as a junket.

What nerve! Or is it brains? (By Jimmy Cabato)
