Ligo wins float competition


A sardine company capped the P100,000 first prize in Tuesday’s float parade dubbed “Parade of Lights” during the 10th day celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

The Ligo Canning Factory, manufacturer of the Ligo brand of sardines vested 11 other participants in the float parade.

“This parade of lights begun in 2014 with few participants. But now the number has increased because of the big prizes we are giving to the winners,” said Mayor Isabelle Climaco.

The management of Ligo, including its employees, heaped with joy when the announcement was made that they were the overall champion.

Second placer was Salum Elementary School and was awarded with P80,000.

Third placer was Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology winning P70,000, fourth prize went to Mega Sardines with the prize of P60,000 and fifth placer was Petron who was awarded P50,000.

The mayor thanked all the participants for their interest in joining the competition. (Nonong Santiago)
