Nephew of Hapilon nabbed in Zamboanga is ASG bomber - Police

The Intelligence Branch of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) yesterday confirmed that the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) member and allegedly the nephew of ASG leader Isnilon Hapilon who was arrested last Thursday, is a bomber.

This was revealed by Chief Inspector Edilberto Alvarez, Chief of the Intelligence Branch of the local police, during an exclusive interview with Zamboanga Today.

Alvarez said that Abdulmubin Salahuddin y Kudalat, alias Mubin, a security guard of Black Arrow Security Agency assigned at a mall along Governor Camins Avenue, and residing in barangay Guiwan, this city confessed during interrogation that he is an ASG bomber.

According to Alvarez they were able to secure the warrant of arrest for Salahuddin under criminal case number 514-4 for kidnapping and serious illegal detention with ransom.

The warrant of arrest was issued by Acting Presiding Judge Ernesto R. Gutierrez, of RTC, 9th Judicial Region, Branch 4, Parang, Sulu dated September 28, 2000.

Salahuddin is detained at the ZCPO headquartersprior to his turn over to the court.

Salahuddin was arrested along Guiwan old highway by the police and military intelligence personnel.

Police said that Salahuddin is in-charge of supplying firearms and ammunition to the ASG operating in Sulu Province.

Recovered from him during the arrest was a sling bag containing a fragmentation hand grenade.

Police said Salahuddin was involved in the 2002 Sipadan kidnapping incident.

Further information revealed that Salahuddin stayed at Manggal Drive, Barangay Baliwasan, this city, before he transferred to Callejon Drive, Guiwan. (Eugene A. Lasprilla
