Girl rescued from alleged human traffickers

A 13-year-old girl, allegedly victim of human trafficking, was safely rescued while two suspected illegal recruiters were arrested at a local resort in Barangay Sinunuc, this city, last Tuesday.

Police Station 8 Commander, Chief Inspector Hingming Ladjaali said, the alert team of the police station led by Inspector Sammy Sakilin responded to a tip by a concerned citizen on the alleged human trafficking victim.

Ladjaali said that the operation led to Acapulco Beach Resort in Barangay Sinunuc, this city, where the operatives rescued a certain Lyn-Lyn of Sitio Flamingo, Barangay Calarian.

Two suspects identified as Gamra Abdul y Sandong, 63 and Kimhar Alih y Jimlani, 32, both of the said barangay were held for questioning by the authorities.

The victim told the police that she and seven other women were brought to the resort by a certain Fadelyn Dan-Dan and offered them a study grant at an Islamic Madrasa School in Saudi Arabia.

The victims were harbored at Acapulco Beach Resort and will be ferried to Sabah, Malaysia, police said.

The suspects were brought to the police station for investigation and custody. (Eugene A. Lasprilla)
