OUSTED Councilor Charlie Mariano from Dist. 1 is now team yellow/pink’s appointed and anointed party spokesman. No less than their camp commander-in-chief lady Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar has confirmed this to all and sundry during the Team Climaco press-con held last Saturday afternoon.

Councilor Charlie, without an iota of doubt, was the city’s one of the best ever to emerge as an outspoken member of our city legislative’s august body. So many admired his fearless and fiercest stand every time the council tackles major controversial issues in the august body. But, many, as well, felt like he self-destruct himself that supposedly resulted to his infamous ouster sometime mid this year.

“Many of us have missed Councilor Charlie Mariano in the council these days. He’s unrivaled in a lot of its august body’s heated discussions and deliberations. Poor Councilor Charlie Mariano, now a mere spokesman of the yellow-turned-pink camp under our lady Mayor Beng. What a big letdown on his part,” remarked with deep regrets one of Charlie’s diehards who talked on condition that his name be withheld as he said he’s supporting the red team of Dist. 1 Cong. Celso Lobregat.

During last Saturday’s Team Climaco press-con at Grand Astoria Hotel on Sucabon St. in this beautiful La Bella Zbga. of ours, Charlie, as usual, rose to the occasion to defend himself as to why he opted to turn away from red to the yellow-turned-pink camp under Mayor Beng. He said it right there and then, and this corner need not add for more. Charlie vehemently denied he’s a spy out to leak infos for the Lobregat camp. He even went on to criticize sharply Cong. Lobregat and his underlings, his very own comrades then. He swore that his loyalty for Mayor Beng and her yellow/pink team can never be wavered, no matter what. Wow!

That’s Charlie for you, as always.

AMID the Charlie Mariano brouhaha, here emerges his very own supposed moral turpitude record that indeed caused his waterloo in the council.

Atty. Tongo Climaco, during my daily TV talk show on TV-13 yesterday (Nov. 7), bared that ex-Councilor Charlie Mariano sought his legal expertise after his ouster from the council, as the deeply-distraught former city dad seemed not taking it sitting down, and hankering for a possible political comeback in the near future, more likely by 2022, after having supposedly served his day in court, so to speak.

“I did my best to help Charlie. I even hand-carried the petition letter I wrote to then Justice Sec. Viteng (Vitaliano) Aguirre, seeking for a presidential clemency ( in Charlie’s behalf) from Pres. Duterte. Had the President signed it (clemency), Charlie could have run by 2022. However, Aguirre was sacked and in the process, ousted by Du30 himself, amid the controversial release of prison of drug lord Kerwin Espinosa. He was replaced by the present DOJ Sec. Guevara, and because of this unfortunate twist of event in the DOJ, our petition for Charlie’s possible pardon through a presidential clemency remains pending up to now in the DOJ under the new DOJ secretary (Guevara). I hope the President will eventually sign it,” the prominent lawyer disclosed during the show.

Hence, Charlie’s chances to return by 2022 local polls, aren’t yet far-fetched, as relayed by Atty. Tongo himself. For all the Charlie Mariano fans club, the light at the end of its tunnel is still there flickering. Just have your fingers crossed it’ll happen on Charlie’s favor. For if Charlie finally returns, “I’ll surely be vindicated,” one Charlie’s supposed fanatic supporter quoted him as saying.  All I can say, “Let’s find out, for as long as we remain alive and kicking till year 2022.”

Thanks, guys. Keep on punching, you, as always. By Jun Feliciano) (30)
