Doglo, Maasin kagawads report accomplishment during SOBA 2012

The Maasin barangay council presented before its constituents the collective as well as the individual accomplishmentreports of its barangay officials headed by chairman Misael “Kap Doglo” Bernardo.

Bernardo said the State of the BarangayAddress or SOBA is an annual activity where barangay officials present beforethe public the direction of Maasin, the developmental programs on infra, healthand environment as well as projects of the present city administration.

Invited during the SOBA were Councilor GerkyValesco, Chinese Chamber President Eddie Chua and Ms. Laarni Sadain, wife ofCouncilor Melchor Sadain.
“Once again we are doing this presentationbecause we feel we owe our positions to the people who voted us in theposition. Also, I wish to reiterate the resolution filed by Councilor (Gerky)Valesco few weeks ago that public officials should always adhere to thetransparency as part of good governance, and so this is a motivation for us tocontinue our presentation on what have been accomplished and the path thatMaasin is taking, all for the development of our Maasin”. Bernardo said.

Bernardo cited that in 2007, Maasin has anannual budget of P1.766,966.33, and last year, Maasin registered P2.956,209.00budget with an increase of P399,000.00 based from 2010’s P2,557,209.00.

Bernardo also reported that somehow theconversions of some municipalities to Cityhood in Mindanao has in a wayaffected the national budget, thus the need to improve on local collectionssuch as Real Property Tax, Community and Business Tax; over and above for 2012 approvedbudget at P3,015,866.00.

Also presented were accomplishment reportsfrom the honorable kagawads. The individual kagawads also has their respectiveplatforms and advocacy which has contributed to the improvement of the lives ofthe people in said barangay. Among them are; Mike Yusop, Rosita Bacoboy,Cecilia Medallo, Ruben dela Cruz, Jose Bamby Buscas, Romeo Praico, AlexanderBacoboy, including the Sanggunian Kabataan as well that of the barangayTreasurer and Secretary.

During the SOBA, Bernardo also presentedbefore the public several deeds of donations donated to the barangay so as tofastrack the developmental efforts of the government.

Bernardo also thanked District 1Congresswoman Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, Mayor Celso Lobregat, Vice MayorCesar Ituralde and the members of the City Council in general for their supportto Maasin.

Maasin, over the years has also been arecipient of many major infra activities from the Lobregat administration withan appropriation of more than P35 million worth of projects.

“I must admit that just like any otherbarangays we also have our share of challenges, and one thing ; we cannot fightfate. We should adopt measures to prevent or lessen the impact of calamity,Dengue, and other trials”. Bernardo said.

Bernardo further adds “I am blessed withdynamic barangay officials who are so generous, active, and has showeddedication to their beloved Maasin. One thing for sure we are truly proud hereis our sense of unity”.

hi i live in maasin with my wife, and doglo and his many staff have allways been helpfull and allways willing to help ppl in maasin, me and my wife hope this carrys on so the barangay can carry on being a safe and great place to live many thanks gary
