It was last Friday the 13th when Kabang, the Hero Dog gave birth to six healthy puppies inside a cage at the City Pound located in barangay San Roque, this city.

Veterinarian Dr. Grace Luz Jeminea assisted Kabang in her delivery which began at around 7:30 p.m. and lasted at past 10 in the evening.
Despite Kabang’s condition, she licked and cleaned her baby pups with her tongue.

Jeminea counted five males and a female mostly colored black with only one male that got the color of his mother. (kabang is a Visayan word that means many colors)

“The dominant color of the puppies is black. Maybe their father is colored black. Kabang is really a good and protective mother. Despite her condition, she is taking care of her puppies,” Jeminea said.

The veterinarian said the female askal was taken to the City Pound so they can assist the dog during her delivery.
According to Jeminea, she heard that an animal welfare group will sponsor the constructive surgery of Kabang which will be conducted by experts in America after her delivery.

It will be recalled, Kabang became an instant celebrity when she saved two children from an accident last January.
The report disclosed that the canine saved 11-year old Dina Dianching and her two-year old cousin by jumping on a speeding motorcycle along the Nuñez Extension road which resulted to the severing Kabang’s upper mouth when it got stuck in the motorcycle’s roller and sprocket.
