Archbishop Valles transferred to Davao
Friday, 17 February 2012 12:44
The Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Zamboanga Romulo Valles is now preparing to be transfered to Davao City after Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as the next Archbishop of Davao last February 11. Archdiocese of Zamboanga, Bicar General Msgr. Cris Manongas said the movement was made due to the retirement of the Archbishop of Davao Fernando Tapala at the age of 77.
The retirement of Davao Archbishop, Fernando Tapala was already accepted in Rome by the Pope.
According to Msgr. Manongas, Archbishop Valles is still awaiting for the installation rites before he can govern the Archdiocese of Davao.
Msgr. Manongas explained that the preparation for the installation rites in Davao is not easy and it will take time since priests and high ranking church officials including the Papal Nuncio should be present.
As to who will replace Archbishop Valles in Zamboanga, Manongas said, “We will wait for the announcement. Nobody knows who will replace him. If there will be a replacement, it will be announced soon.”
He explained that the replacement of Valles will still have to be appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. Msgr. Manongas said that as soon as the replacement of Valles will be announced, the Archdiocese of Zamboanga will also prepare for the installation rites.
Valles stayed in this city for five years. He was installed as the Archbishop of Metropolitan Archdiocese of Zamboanga last January 9, 2007.

Does he have political plans? Maybe the question is unfair. But hey, going by his words-without-actions, he becomes fair game, sounding as he does just like the people he detests.
John, I am also against crooks. But unlike you, I make the effort to gather evidences. Unlike you, I move. You are just but noise to me. And your noise does not clear the air. It even obfuscates things.
So tell me, after all that you've said against Celso, Rodel, Erbie, etc., what have you constructively done? Have you hailed their asses to court? To the ombudsman?
What is this all for? Cerca ya el 2013. Malisud su ese el donde lang bos ay cae, kay hende bos recibi mi boto.
To speak in this way of Valdez, and I am not his fan either, based on stories he gets in America, is unfair. Why doesn't he man-up, come to Zamboanga, which really hasn't been his home for all purposes, and fight here? And then maybe we could believe that he is truly concerned for the city, one with the the people, and putting action to his words.
Otherwise, John is John Shit.
