Two wounded, one dead in hacking incident

A barangay kagawad and her helper were seriously wounded while an alleged intruder was killed in a hacking incident Sunday night at Barangay Tulungatung, this city.
Police identified the barangay official as Angelita Bucoy y Venjola, of legal age, barangay kagawad of Tulungatung and her helper, Roselio Bernardo, of legal age, both residents of the said place.
The barangay official sustained a hack wound on her head while Bernardo suffered an injury on her hand. Both were brought to Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC).
The suspect was identified as Dennis Bucoy y Abistado, 29, married, stepson of the barangay official, and a resident of Zone 3, Tulungatung.
He suffered multiple hack wounds on the different parts of his body which caused his instantaneous death.
Initial investigation conducted by Ayala Police Station disclosed that both victims were already asleep when they were awaken by noise inside the house.
Accordingly, when they verified, they saw the alleged suspect inside their house armed with a sword. The suspect hacked the barangay offical on the head. The suspect also hacked Benardo. The two then retaliated and hacked the suspect to death.
Personnel of the Ayala Police Station conducted an ocular inspection at the crime scene and discovered that the ceiling of the victim’s house was already destroyed. They believe that the suspect used it as an entry point.
The cadaver of the suspect was brought to Villa Funeral Homes for the post mortem examination.
Responding policemen recovered a bolo and a sword at the crime scene.
Police are eyeing robbery as the possible motive of the incident.
