Mayor Celso Lobregat admitted that the twin explosion yesterday afternoon at Red Palm Pension House located in Barangay Guiwan and San Roque Cockpit will affect the City’s celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival Celebration.

The mayor said the explosion will in one way or the other, affect the celebration of the "Fiesta Pilar" since thousands of visitors started arriving in the city as early as last week for the celebration.

Some of the activities for the fiesta include the 5th Wow Sardinas at the R.T. Lim Boulevard on Oct. 10, the float parade, Hermosa Street Dance competition and the main program on Oct. 11 at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex. The events will be capped on Oct. 11 with a grand fireworks display at the Paseo del Mar at 11pm.

October 12, the feast day of La Virgen del Pilar is reserved for religious activities.

Meanwhile, the mayor condemned the twin bombing as he awaits the investigation results coming from police authorities.

He said ten victims were first brought to Western Mindanao Medical Center and Ciudad Medical. They were later transferred to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

According to the Mayor, five of the victims came from Red Palm Pension House while the other five came from the San Roque Cockpit.

He also added that none of the victims are in very critical condition and the doctors are still completing the medical examinations on the victims. He also assured that the victims will be taken cared of by the city government.

Because of the incident, the Mayor who is also the chairman of the Crisis Management Committee (CMC) immediately called for a meeting at City Hall yesterday.
