Batch ’85 rules Chong Hua’s Alumni cage tourney 2011

The team of Batch ’85 (National Bakery-Guiwan) won over the Blue Gym team (Batch ’79) during the championship match of the Zamboanga Chong Hua High School (ZCHHS) ‘Alumni Basketball Tournament 2011,’ at the Golden Boys Sports Gym early this week.

It was a close encounter at the hard court as both teams played aggressively with Blue Gym team leading in the 1st and 2nd quarters of the game. The first half ended with a score of 38-36.

National Bakery (Batch ’85) Team coach Montgomery “Ago” Perez and Team Manager Neil Perez regrouped their team for offensive and fast-break plays at the start of the 3rd quarter.

Batch ’85 cagers led by Lim (22) scored 27 points with 23 rebounds and 12 assist; Macrohon (23), 15 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists; Chua (#10), 15 points; Santiago (#1), 14 points; Ronald (#45), 7 points, 45 rebounds and 10 assist; Faustino (#17), 22 rebounds and 17 assist and the rest of the team members made a sweeping victory from the 3rd until the 4th quarters of the game with a final score of 75-64.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) was awarded to Noli Lim of Chong Hua Batch ’85.

ZCHHS Alumni Association president Johnny Chua said there will be another basketball tournament among the different batches for the 2nd conference.
“This is for friendship and camaraderie among alumni which will be helpful to our Alma Mater, especially, this November for our homecoming,” Chua said.
