Police in Ayala score vs. criminals: 2 killed, 2 hurt in Patalon shootout

As the number of shooting incidents increased in the city, police scored against suspected criminals in an encounter yesterday at Sitio Sapa Seco in Barangay Upper Patalon.
Operatives of the Ayala Police Station led by Chief Inspector Roberto Marcos killed two suspected notorious armed men and wounded two of their cohorts in a brief gunfight.
Killed were identified as Rodel Bucoy y Delos Santos and his brother Rolando, both of legal ages, and residents at the said place. Wounded were Condrado Amparo, 23; and Reynante Bucos y Leon, 14, who sustained minor injuries and were discharged later from the hospital.
Before the incident, the Ayala police station chief deployed security forces to establish any possible link of the group in various crimes in the area jurisdiction of Labuan Police Station following a report on the presence of armed group in the area.
Marcos told Zamboanga Today that the group armed with high-powered and short firearms immediately opened fired at the policemen when they reached in the area, triggering a brief shootout which resulted to the death of the two suspects and wounding of two others.
Three of their companions, whose identities are being withheld for investigation reasons, eluded from police arrest, according to the police report.
Two improvised combustible firearm locally known as Boga (a homemade shotgun), a Caliber .38 Revolver and 3 bolos were recovered at the encounter site and were forwarded to the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 9 (RCLO9) for the examination, said Marcos.
The bodies of the slain gunmen were brought to Villa Funeral Homes for the post mortem and paraffin examination.
The Ayala police operatives are constantly conducting foot patrolling along the coastal areas as they intensify intelligence operation on the mountainous part in the west coast of the city.
