Drug pusher killed, cop hurt in Baliwasan shootout

A suspected drug pusher was killed while a policeman was wounded in a brief shootout at the interior portion of Aquino Drive, Baliwasan Grande, Barangay Baliwasan, this city, the other day.

Local police, Criminal Investigation and Detective Management (CIDMU) chief Sr. Inspector Arlan Delumpines identified the suspect as Alani Jumadil y Abuji, of legal age, married, and a resident of the said place.

Probers said that Jumadil shot the police narcotic operative, Police Officer 1 Edgar Deles, prompting the team to retaliate and open fire at the suspect causing his instantaneous death.

Deles suffered a lone gunshot wound on the left side of his body and brought to ZAEC Community Medical Hospital for medication and presently recuperating at a local hospital.

Delumpines said that during ocular investigation they recovered a Black Widow Caliber 22 revolver loaded with 2 live ammunitions and a spent shell and a Suzuki Shogun 125 motorcycle of combination color red and black with license plate number IE 6722 near the suspect’s cadaver at the crime scene.

Initial investigation conducted showed that the operatives of local police, Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Froce (AIDSOTF) led by Sr. Inspector Elmer Solon conducted a buy bust operation at the place.

Accordingly, the operatives spotted the suspect and PO1 Deles was about to arrest him then the former resisted and shot policeman with his calibre resulting to the shootout.

Also recovered at the crime scene were 5 spent shells of M16 Armalite Rifle.

The cadaver of the victim was brought to Villa Funeral Homes for the post mortem examination and upon search at the cadaver, a medium size sachet of suspected shabu was retrieved from the right back pocket of his the suspect’s short pants.

A team from the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) conducted the paraffin test at the suspect’s cadaver for record purposes.
The cadaver was later claimed by the immediate family for burial.
