Police investigators are now looking into three possible angles in the twin bombing incidents that occurred Thursday night at a passenger bus along MCLL highway in Barangay Guiwan and near the mosque along Suterville road near Barangay Campo Islam, this city.

In a press conference held at Camp Abendan in Mercedes, Estilles said they are now investigating the angles of extortion, terrorism and diversionary tactics employed by the suspects.

Estilles also disclosed investigators are also trying to identify four passengers who boarded the bus somewhere in Barangay Culianan and hurriedly disembarked along with other passengers in an establishment at Barangay Putik.

The PRO 9 chief said the passengers, three males and a woman were looking suspicious and that their identities matched the lists of police suspected bombers.

According to Estilles, the bomb components of the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) that exploded are similar and the ‘bomb signature’ points to one group. But he did not divulge whose group he was referring.

Estilles disclosed based from police count there were only seven passengers who were rushed to the hospitals for treatment.

Other media outfits have counted the injured passengers to reach ten, but accordingly these passengers only sustained minor wounds and were already discharged by the hospitals.

Estilles admitted the rise in shooting incidents plus the twin bombings in this city is an insult to the police and his administration. He is set to call for a dialogue among police chiefs to determine where they failed and find solution to the problem.

“This gives us the thought that we have to be on our toes and to try to look where we have failed,” Estilles said.
