City’s peace council meets on helmet issue

Mayor Celso Lobregat met yesterday afternoon top security officials and members of the City’s Peace and Order Council (CPOC) at City Hall to tackle several issues confronting the city.

The meeting centered on the current peace and order situation, the use of protective helmets, and formal introduction of ZCPO Officer in Charge P/ Sr. Supt. James Mejia. It also tackled other matters.

On the helmet issue, DTI Provincial Director Engr. Rolando Acuña explained to the CPOC members the process on the testing and placement of stickers on helmets while LTO IX Regional Director Atty. Aminola Abaton explained about the helmet law.

The group was given the chance to ask all about the implementation of the helmet law to include the type of the helmet to be used.

Task Force Zamboanga Commander Col. Buenaventura Pascual, Zamboanga Chamber President Cholo Soliven, some of the city councilors, and other members of the POC were in attendance.

But the CPCO members did not allow the media to cover the briefing on the peace and order situation in the city and other matters, only the briefing on the implementation of the full face helmet law. It was not disclosed to the media what the reason for the closed-door meeting on the pressing issues.
