ZCMS has new prexy

The new president of Zamboanga City Medical Society (ZCMS) has been inducted in a formal ceremony held last Tuesday evening at a local hotel in this city.

The president of the Philippine Medical Association (PMA), Dr. Modesto O. Llamas, inducted the new ZCMC officers into office.

Inducted was Dr. John Hernani Anacan, a Surgeon, who succeeded Dr. Orlando P. Paber, an specialist of Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat.

Also inducted were the other new officers for the year 2012-2013 — President, Dr. John Hernani Anacan; Vice President, Dr. Mansueta A. Sabellina; Secretary, Dr. Said P. Hassan; Assistant Secretary Dr. Rachelle Kong-Garcia; Treasurer, Dr. Karleen Sales; Assistant Treasurer, Dr. Miriam R. Cataluña; PIO, Dr. Ferdauzi I. Ikalal; Auditor, Dr. Benjamin Lopez; and Board of Directors.

The Board is composed of CME Director, Dr. Troy Abdurahman; Assistant CME Director, Dr. Ben Jason H. Caranay; Community Service Doctors Greta Lacandalo, Josephine G. Gemarino, Teresita L. Chiong, and Juliet Ruste; Social Affairs Doctors Myrna P. Angeles, Ma. Gay Gonzales, and Guia Kintanar; Special Event Dr. Roger Fernandez, Building Administrator, Dr. Hindenburgh P. Calumba and Immediate Past President, Dr. Orlando Paber.         

In a speech during the event, Anacan said that several activities are already lined up such as medical missions and information dissemination to the public.
For his part, Dr. Llamas vowed to support the group and will protect the rights and privileges of Physicians.

At present, there are 600 doctors in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula Region.
