DSWD gears for 'Huwarang Pamilyang Pilipino' award

The Department of Social Welfare and Development IX (DSWD) now gears for the "Huwarang Pamilyang Pilipino" award to be given by the DSWD to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4P’s beneficiaries who exercised good standing in the community.

DSWD Information Officer Narrabelle Z. Bue said the objective of the award is to recognize families who have religiously followed the conditions in the 4P’s and to also recognize families who are adopting the Filipino values and strong family ties.

The award is open to 4P’s beneficiaries nationwide endorsed by the parent leader or the barangay captain.

The eligibility are as follows 4P’s beneficiaries for at least one year, a family who has a good standing in the community with no derogatory records, a family whose income is not derived from gambling, prostitution, child labor, extortion, and similar illegal resources.

The criteria for judging are a follows a family with 100% compliance in all conditionalities 25%, a family that practices and promote healthy living 20%, a family that is actively involved in the community and environmental endeavors 20%, a family who demonstrates love and respect for the community including environment 20% and a family who manages and utilize the cash grant properly 15%

The said awarding of model 4P family is in line with the Family Week celebration on the fourth week of September.

Prizes await the winner who will represent the region in the National Huwarang Pamilyang Pilipino. 

According to Bue, the region already has six entries to be validated. The regional awarding will be this week while the national awarding will be on September 28 in Manila.

The Region has some 200,000 4P’s beneficiaries. In Zamboanga City, there are more than 20,000 beneficiaries. In District 1 there are 7,000 beneficiaries while 13,000 in District 2 covering a total of 52 Barangays in Zamboanga.

In the 4P’s program, the beneficiaries will receive more or less P1,000 a month through ATM, or over the counter collection in the nearest Land Bank depending on the number of children below 14 years old. The money of the beneficiaries is being released every two months.

The breakdown are as follows P500 for health and medical services and P300 for the education of each schooling age children.

The "Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino" Program of the government will run for five years, where the beneficiaries will receive the benefits continuously.

The money given must be spent properly especially for the health of the family and the education of the children. The children must go to school, the health of the family must be well taken cared of and the children must have complete immunization and pregnant mother must have their prenatal check up.

The DSWD is also giving the beneficiaries some seminars which are useful like responsible parenting.
