City gov't, PSC support Diaz in London 2012 Olympics

The City Government of Zamboanga and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) are fully supporting Zamboangueña weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz in the 2012 London Olympics.

This after the City Government through Elbert “Bong” Atilano representing Mayor Celso Lobregat turned over P100,000.00 to PSC Commissioner Atty. Jose Luis Gomez representing PSC Chairman Ricardo Garcia.

PSC Commissioner Gomez lauded the City Government of Zamboanga through Mayor Celso Lobregat for the untiring support in sports program to include Batanga Pinoy National Games recently held in the city, PRISAA National Games and other government and non-government sports competition.

Aside from the City Government, Atilano said Diaz also received P50,000 and weightlifter coach Antonio Agustin P20,000 from the PSC for the "pocket money" or mobility.

PSC and the City Government also shared financial assistance to Karlo West Macrohon for the Youth Camp in London.

This is in view of the foregoing objectives of the PSC and the City Government’s call to increase participation in sports and excellence in sports performance by Zamboangueño and other Filipino individuals.

With PSC’s mission to serve as the prime catalyst and advocacy for the propagation and development of Philippine sports by helping shape policies and setting priorities.

Meanwhile, the young 21-year-old Zamboangueña Asian Olympic medalist recently added feather as a flag bearer to the opening of 2012 London Olympics which brought pride and honor to the city as she led the Philippine delegation in East London’s Docklands area.
The City Government of Zamboanga through Mayor Celso Lobregat expressed elation and honor and planning for a heroes welcome upon arrival of Diaz.
