Another shooting: 1 killed in Barangay Mercedes

There has been another shooting incident in Zamboanga City, this time at sitio Mulu Mulua in Barangay Mercedes during which one person was killed while another unharmed in two separate robbery hold-ups.

The victim, identified as Pilardo Ginete, 51, a carpenter who is also a “habal-habal” driver, was shot and killed shortly afternoon on Tuesday at Sitio Mulu Muluan, Mercedes village, 14 kilometers east of the city.

The unharmed victim was Jobeth Bedayo, 26, a development officer of the Micro Entrepreneurs Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Mempco).

Based on police report, prior to the incident, a passenger boarded Ginete’s motorcycle at Zone 1 in Barangay Mercedes and ordered him to proceed to Sitio Mulu-Muluan, and another passenger boarded Ginete’s motorcycle upon reaching the junction of Sta. Filomena, bringing his passengers to two.

The report further disclosed that upon reaching Sitio Mulu-Muluan, Ginete was shot and killed by one of his two passengers, who carted away the victim’s motorcycle when they fled.

Meanwhile, Bedayo was returning to the city proper when intercepted by three unidentified gunmen around 10:15 a.m. in Barangay Upper Calarian, seven kilometers west of the city.

The suspects took Bedayo’s belt bag containing P10,775 and his motorcycle, leaving him behind unharmed, the police said.

The latest shooting incident has reached now to 108. Last Thursday, a shooting incident occurred along Sta. Maria Road, where two men were shot and killed by unidentified gunmen riding-in-tandem on a motorcycle.

This was followed Sunday morning involving an expert of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), who was shot dead by one of two gunmen riding-in-tandem on a motorcyle near National Irrigation Administration (NIA) office in Barangay Tumaga.

Also a shooting incident took place Monday night at Nuñez Extension in Barangay Camino Nuevo, where another man working as a laborer of meatshop was shot and seriously wounded.
