The President of the Zamboanga City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (ZCCCIFI) gave President Benigno Simeon Aquino III a rating of 7  during his 3rd State of the Nation Address (SONA) last Monday at the House of Representatives.

Businessman Cholo Soliven, ZCCCIFI president, issued this statement in reply to a question on how he will rate the recently concluded SONA of President Aquino.

“Over all seven, but a failing mark on the mismanagement of the Mindanao power crisis,” said Soliven.

He added: “I’m not only disappointed for Zamboanga City I was disappointed for the entire Mindanao because evidently they are trying to sweep under the rug the issue of the Mindanao power crisis, which we feel should be solved as soon as possible because the entire Mindanao is affected but it was not even mentioned.”

The City’s chamber of commerece President said it was quite ironic that Zamboanga City was not even mentioned while the cities of Dipolog and Pagadian were mentioned.

He said while he agrees the President statement in terms of macro fundamental progress. “But the development should cascade to the lowest barangay so they can feel what the president was saying. He is doing a good job in terms of the macro perspective of the economy.”

At his 3rd SONA, the President reported his accomplishments in the different aspects like education, agriculture, security and others.

Both City’s representatives, Deputy Speaker for Mindanao, and Zamboanga City District 1 Congresswoman Maria Isabelle Climaco and Congressman Erbie Fabian attended the president’s SONA.
