Priests ambushed in Sumisip, Basilan

A group of unidentified armed men Sunday morning ambushed a paramilitary and military unit providing travel security of two parish priests along the circumferential road of Sumisip in Basilan, wounding four militiamen, two of them were seriously injured, officials said.

Usec. Benito T. Ramos, Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), said at around 10:00 a.m., CAFGUs and Special Forces units were conducting road security along the circumferential road of Sumisip, for the safe travel of two parish priests to Tumahubong, when an unidentified armed group ambushed the mentioned group of priests and paramilitary/military units.

According to Ramos, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) voter’s registration is ongoing while the incident occurred.

“The military present in the area on the area is currently conducting an operation to locate the perpetrators...military units on the area are currently on heightened alert,” he said in a report posted at NDRRMC official website.

The NDRRMC website also disclosed that no Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) reported as a result of the incident.

The latest ambush is the second such attack to occur in Sumisip, Basilan in a period of five days.

Last Wednesday, July 11, 2012, six people were killed and 22 others were wounded in an ambush staged by suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits.

Five of the fatalities were rubber ‘tappers’ of the Tumahubong Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Integrated Development Cooperative (TARBIDC). The other fatality was a member of the Special Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary (SCAA) assigned to escort the rubber plantation workers.

Three other SCAA members and 19 plantation workers were wounded in the ambush.

FYI - head on the sand, would you believed the fact that the Quran came from the old testament of the bible? Basically, Muslim, Christian, Jews, ect. We are all the same, with different ideology believed system. But, believing in the same supreme being. Many roads that leds to salvation. With one destination. Choose your own path. You know when it's right by it's fruit. But, please don't judge, because it's not for us to judge. Only the almighty, GOD, ALLAH or whatever you prefer to call the supreme being. He is the same the only ONE GOD. You take care bro.

Head not in the sand, you sound profoundly hostile toward Muslims/Islam. Could it be that somebody died in your family that was perpetrated by a Muslim fanatic/ extremist? Probably a victim of 911? I hope not. To be honest with you I'm furiously mad more than you could imagine when that incident happened wherein a lot of innocent people died. The perpetrators are known to be muslim exrememist. But, that would not absolutely give you the excused to condemned the whole Muslim populace and it's religion Islam. If you do as you did. You are probably the same if not worst who committed the crimed. It's because of people like you peace seem to be unattainable. Instead of finding common grounds to resolved their deference you tent to throw more fuel to the burning bush. Peace be with you brother. Mario, if there is anyone more ignorant, it is you. all one has to do is look around and see that it is the MUSLIMS who create trouble for everyone. Everywhere you look that do not have a population of 5% Muslims, the place is peaceful. Everywhere that Muslims are at least 20%, there is always violence, violence & more violence. If you just look at history (not the ones that Muslims REWROTE) you will note that the Middle East used to be a Christian place. It was peaceful then. When you guys arrived you guys forcibly made people convert, kidnap their children., etc. that is when Islam increased & ruled. its the same story and incidents happening to our government forces and civilians being always on the losing end, always being ambushed by the enemies of state. it seems the government and the military top brass are doing nothing to counter this or is it they are simply inutile. it is also shameless and idiots of the authorities who always cannot caught the perpetrators and give justice to the victims and the filipino people.
