Villar wants Fabian to lead local NP-LP-NPC coalition ticket

There is great possibility the Nacionalista Party- Liberal Party-National People's Coalition or NPC coalition will field one unified ticket in the local polls next year, former former Las Piñas congresswoman Cynthia Villar said yesterday.

In an interview over DxKZ-Wild FM's "Buenas Dias Zamboanga" hosted by Al Alhabshi, Villar said leaders of the parties concerned are now discussing this proposal.

Villar, who is joining the coalition senatorial lineup said she is batting for District 2 Congressman Erbie Fabian to lead the coalition ticket in Zamboanga  City in time for the 2013 elections.

“That matter is now being discussed by the leaders of LP, NP and NPC. Being our city chairman, the Nacionalista Party is pushing for Cong. Fabian to be the standard bearer of the coalition in Zamboanga” said Villar, wife of NP head Sen. Manny Villar.

She said the parties in coalition may field their own local candidates if the alliance of LP, NP and NPC in the localities cannot be resolved.

“If the local alliance cannot be compromised, we will most likely observe a free zone, meaning, we will support our candidates and they may support their own candidates” Villar said.

According to Villar, the NP will undoubtedly support Fabian’s bid for mayor, adding that the NP is also batting for the inclusion of four would-be candidates under its fold in the senatorial ticket of the coalition.

She identified them as re-electionists Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Antonio Trillanes, former congressman Ace Barbers and herself.

Although Fabian has yet to formally announce his mayoralty bid on July 31, the district 2 lawmaker has already hinted in many gatherings that he is very sure of gunning for the top post in city hall.

“As I have said before, the NP will extend its all out support for Cong. Fabian whatever his decision will be in next year's election” Villar said.
