Monsi running for Congress

Monsi Dela Cruz, the former Roman Catholic priest turned civic leader and businessman who manages Lantanka Hotel, has confirmed he will run for congress in Zamboanga City's 1st district under the banner of Zamboangueños for the Transformation of Zamboanga (ZTZ).

ZTZ is being led by a "political kingpin" in Zamboanga del Norte former congressman Romeo "Nonong" Jalosjos, one of the top contenders for the May 2013 mayoral race in the City of Zamboanga.

Dela Cruz made the confirmation of his congressional bid during the covenant signing of ZTZ candidates' 25-point development program for the transformation of Zamboanga City last Saturday at their main headquarters in Tetuan.

He said he has no more plan to join politics but he will not say never if given the chance to serve the people and if he could do a whole lot better in District I if elected congressman.

He hoped to contribute to the transformation of Zamboanga, as envisioned by ZTZ founder Nonong Jalosjos.

Monsi as he is fondly called served as a Catholic parish priest at the Metropolitan Cathedral, where he was the former administrator.

He ran for mayor in 2007 and vice mayor in 2010 elections but he had failed in those two attempts to win.

MS. CURRY, COME ON YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THAT. MR. NONSI IS STILL A PRIEST THEORETICALLY? COMMON SENSE DICTATES THAT YOU CAN NOT BE A PRIEST AND A POLITICIAN/BUSINESSMAN AT THE SAME TIME. THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH LAW DOES NOT ALLOW THAT.ONCE YOUR A PRIEST YOU ARE BOUND AND MANDATED BY ROMAN CATHOLIC LAW TO GIVE YOUR WHOLE LIFE TO THE CHURCH. AND THERE IS SUCH THING AS SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. THAT WOULD BRING THE ISSUE OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST. SO, LETS CLEAR THE ISSUE REGARDING THE STATUS OF MR. NONSI. Mario..more arguments based on Lobregat black propaganda. Theoretically, he is still a Priest because the church did not expel him, he left, as of today no documents was given from the church saying he is no longer a priest. And on your comments, you failed to mention his accomplishments when he was archbishop of Zamboanga, building Imaculate School, renovating the cathedral and Tetuan church, and numerous social program requires money, where if not from the funds of the church, did this come from? Just answer me this question. Doesn't all your comments sound more like allegations instead of facts?

Ibrahim, read your comment again, what do you mean by: "... are really insulting the people of zamboanga. we dont need them in government and in zamboanga!" You used the word "we" don't need them, who is "we"? Also, the choice of candidates are "insulting to the people of Zamboanga", well I'm not insulted by Monsi's choice and I thing there are others who share my view. Make your argument why they should not be voted and why a different candidate should be and please, stop generalizing things. Thank you.

Mario, your arguments are exactly those of Celso and we all know Celso Lobregat is the master when it comes to black propaganda. Those reasons you say were hurled at him during the time he ran against Celso, not to mention the infamous sex video. And despite all this black propaganda, he has remained calm and even forgave them

I'm basing my decision not on hearsay but actual facts. The fact is no other archbishop was able to accomplish what Monsi has done. Just look at what he has done: he establish an elementary, high school and college in Tetuan (Immculate Conception Schools), renovate our cathedral, renovate Tetuan church, and established a lot of programs for the poor. After he left the priesthood, he uplifted Lantaka Hotel to where is now, added more establishments, and successfully establish Nuevo Zamboanga college. If he plundered the wealth of the church, then who financed all these projects?

Ms. Curry, why do you like the ex. Corrupt priest Monsi? You probably belong to the same feather, if you got my grip. He betrayed the almighty God by leaving the priesthood but the worst part is he plunder the wealth of the church. How could a person with moral sense like this corrupt guy unless they belong to the same feather. Ms. Curry, do you belong to the same feather as moons and the child molester jalosjos? God bless you.

zamboanga city doesnt need any proven corrupt and shrewd politicians. jalosjos presenting in his line up people like mannix dalipe, kim elago, monsi, miravite....etc... are really insulting the people of zamboanga. we dont need them in government and in zamboanga!

I see a bunch of losers in the ZTZ team headed by their ream leader, the ex con. Rapist of a minor innocent girl. The notorious rapist mr. Jalosjos. Monsi the x corrupt priest, who left the priesthood after plundering it's wealth to pursue more earth fleshly desire. Another notorious corrupt ex. Vice mayor, who robe/ corrupted , was it the pag big company? It was some big company, of millions of pesos. How about Dalipe, who celebrated family affairs at the expense of government funds. Ect. The ex. Corrupt military mr. Miravite, who plunder the wealth/ lot of the less fortunate in basil an and Zamboanga. Ect. Ect. Ect. This only confirmed the true saying that feathers of the same color flock together. If the president Aquino has his was this people owed to be in prison not in the political arena. If were sadain and Elago I would Bail out. They bettter resigned from said political party . They are obviously bunch of losers. Please dont be entice of millions of jalosjos.
