Chief Supt. Yanga clears Edding on illegal drugs involvement

PDFPrintE-mail

Deputy Regional Director for Administration (DRDA) concurrently the Officer In-charge (OIC) of Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) Chief Supt. Mario Yanga finally put to rest the investigation on the alleged involvement in illegal drug operation and cleared the name of former Deputy City Police Director (DCD) Superintendent Hado Edding.

Yanga told Zamboanga Today that Edding has been cleared from any administrative charges after establishing no sufficient evidence on the case filed against him.

Recall, Edding was inflicted in the case after his name was allegedly recorded in a “blue book” owned by Phon Mansul Mohammad that was recovered during a raid at his residence.

According to reports, Mohammad has been the finance officer of several Ayala Police Station commanders allegedly including Edding.
Yanga said Edding was never charged for his alleged participation in the operation of illegal drugs in the area.

“There was the blue book with the name of Supt. Hado Edding but unless the owner (PO3 Phon Mansul Mohammad) would show up ..... We can’t find any concrete and sufficient evidence relating the accused to the said case”, Yanga added.

Yanga disclosed that as an officer, Edding has been efficient and active as member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and he was a productive and obedient subordinate during his incumbency as OIC and permanent city police director since 1999.

As his deputy of the ZCPO, Edding was very supportive and a good public servant...... . “I cannot speak of his character pero tao lang tayo, lahat nagkakamali”, Yanga stressed.

Edding has filed his non-duty status before his retirement on October 2012.

Edding's clearance by his immediate superior should not be swallowed hook line and sinker. A more disinterested investigator should look deeper into the accusation because the grapevine sources about Edding's heavy betting in cockpits indicates a questionable source of income which is far above the police officer's salary.

There should be a zero drug tolerance in the police forced, government employees and student as well. There should be mandatory drug test prior employment and acceptance in school. Then frequent random check thereafter. Considering the fact that drug abused is menace to society. The pathophysiology of drug abused is, initially it distroy the individual victim then it directly negatively effect his/ her immediately family/friends then the community. Multifly that by thousands or millions of drug abused victims. Society would be disastrous. THAT's WHY ZERO TOLERANCE TO DRUGS. Firing squad for individual or group of individuals caught selling drugs. With this magnitude of problem. The authorities concerned should be top in enforcing the laws to this effect. In addition, The legislator should legislate new laws, that anybody caught dealing illegal drugs will be hang in public or firing squad. Because the victim is not only the individual but society itself....
