Arena Blanco NHS hosts leadership training

The Arena Blanco National High School through its Supreme Student Government (SSG) implemented a two-day intensive Training on Leadership at the School Campus last June 29-30, 2012 with a theme dubbed as “Potential Leadership: The Need in Nation Building”.
Hundreds of Students from various year levels actively participated in the program, workshops and plenary discussion. PAZ Staff Mr. Aldrin Bucoy-Abdurahim was one of the invited Guest Speakers during the said training.
Mrs. Ma. Cecille P. Manubay, Secondary School Principal II, newly designated school principal warmly accepted the delegation from Peace Advocates Zamboanga and Youth Solidarity for Peace. She was very happy with the success of the said training.
PAZ shared the basic foundation on Leadership with main contentions on the topic “Leading By Example: Walking your Talk”. Being very delighted of the huge number of interested student leaders, the speaker influenced them to respond effectively to the many emerging issues of the society to include racial discrimination, poverty, right to self-determination and good governance.
The speaker shared his best experiences as a student leader, youth leaders, A Muslim, and an Awardee. The students attentively had grasped a clear understanding on being instruments of change.
Leadership being a challenge and a capacity to influence others in knowing the right way, being in the right way and showing the right way to others, the leaders of Arena Blanco National High School committed for personal development and social transformation.
With the mentoring of the SSG Adviser Ms. Jawiya Adjirul and initiatives of the SSG Officer with Haydel A, Munap as the President, the Training equipped the students with basic skills and knowledge on leadership, foster camaraderie among leaders and prepared them to become assets and productive citizens of the community and the nation as well.
Arena Blanco NHS, Muslim dominantly enrolled community with some Christians, had been home of Sama Badjao’s as well, one of the Indogenous Peoples of our Country. The speaker challenged the leaders to better appreciate the identity one has and use it as an inspiration to make our lives meaningful. “Be not afraid to fail, but be afraid not to try”, some of the challenging words of the Speakers.
He clearly emphasized the roles of volunteers being members and officers of the organization in carrying out activities in the school. Servant leadership, Transformational Leadership and Bridging leadership were also taken into consideration which allowed them to bring about a greater realizations to re-examine one’s leadership.
At the end of the training, the speaker being very grateful of the invitation reminded them that leaders always smile in times of troubles, gather strength from stress and grows brave through reflections and prayers.
