Talisayan Barangay Chair bolts from Lobregat camp

PDFPrintE-mail

Talisayan barangay chair Josephine “Pin-Pin” Pareja has finally bolted from the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) party of Mayor Celso Lobregat.
Pareja submitted her irrevocable letter of resignation last Monday to the office of the mayor.

In an interview over RMN, Pareja disclosed her disgust on Lobregat for not supporting the barangay council’s stand against the putting up of the San Ramon Power Inc. coal fired power plant in Sitio San Ramon, Talisayan.

The barangay chairwoman maintained that the coal plant will pose health hazards and water contamination in their community.
She said the mayor and the city council immediately approved the entry of the plant without proper consultation with the affected residents.
“Mabuti lang sana kung ang ash-fall ay diyan mahuhulog sa City Council o sa City Hall, e kaso dito sa aming barangay at kami ang apektado dito,” Pareja said.

This is the reason why Pareja said she decided to resign from the LDP because the mayor is not supporting them in their fight against SRPI.
Meanwhile, Lobregat debunked Pareja’s claim that the city government is not supporting Talisayan.

The chief executive said the city government has poured millions of pesos for the different projects in Talisayan like school buildings, roads and many more.

He asked Pareja to provide better alternative to prevent future blackouts in the city. The mayor said the entry of the coal plant will bring more investments to the city.

“Sabe yo cay ay anda dao ele na otro lao (referring to the Jalosjos camp), so it is all politically motivated,” Lobregat said.

All these campaign promises still remain what they are.... just empty promises. Almost all of these have never materialized despite promising to us "the best is yet to come" on election time. For someone to sit in office for 9 years as mayor and 7 years as congressman, there is so little accomplishments he has done compared to what Duterte did for Davao, Co for Pagadian, or Hoffer for Sibugay.

My point is this, he has served 16 years as a high ranking city official and we have seen his accomplishments & capability, it is now high time to step down and let other leaders sit as mayor/congressman and bring progress to our city. God help us!

Just because an elected official is a member of LDP party should not mean they will be blind followers, who does she serve, her people in the barangay or Celso? She owes her position to her constituents in her barrio, they have said no to coal plant. Celso and his LDP puppies (Lobregat Dogs and Puppies) should stop intimidating and threatening a public official who's job is to represent his/her people.

It's no surprised, ms. Pin Pin changed political party at this. Don't be surprise to see ms. Pin Pin running for councilor under Mr. Jalosjos team, this forth coming election. It would be no surprised to see her defeated even in her barangay.... The timing of her moved is very suspicious. She could have changed party earlier but she waited for mr. Jalosjos to get into the local political arena. She could have disagree with the her party but remains a member. But she chooses to changed political party and used the coal powered plant issue as an excused to say sayonara/ bye. What a character. Her constituent vote would be a yardstick to determined her level of support in protesting against the installation of coal powered plant in her. A good leader is a great follower. She should have supported her leader program, for the common good not the other way around. Considering her actuations the LDP is better of without her.... Good luck.
