A 19-year-old woman was brutally murdered right in front of her mother last Monday at Sitio Camalig in Barangay Vitali, this city.

Killed was identified as Cristina Apable y Magbanua, 19, single, and a resident of Sitio Canela, Cuatro Ojos, in Barangay Vitali.

Sr. Inspector Joel Tuttuh, Vitali Police Station commander, said Apable was hacked by alleged boyfriend of the victim's mother.

"She (victim) sustained multiple hack wounds in the different parts of the body that caused her instantaneous death," he said.

A pursuit operation resulted to the arrest of the suspect identified as Arnel Fernando y Calzote, 21, single, also of the same barangay.

Police revealed that Fernando was planning to visit the victim’s parent to discuss the marriage proposal.

Based on initial investigation by the responding policemen disclosed that at about 7:00 a.m. Monday morning, the victim and her mother were walking along Sitio Camalig when the suspect suddenly appeared from behind.

Further investigation revealed said that the suspect asked the victim for a kiss but the latter ignored the former prompting him to get mad then immediately pulled out a bolo then repeatedly hacked her.

The suspect hurriedly fled but was arrested by responding elements of the police station during a hot pursuit operation.

The suspect was temporarily detained at the police detention cell while appropriate case was filed against him in court.
