All set for Migrant Workers Day on June 7 -- OWWA

All is set for the celebration of ‘Migrant Workers Day” on June 7, 2012, at the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) gym.

The occasion is open to all as the celebration will highlight job fair, one-stop-shop and raffle prizes with this year’s theme: “Serbisyo at oportunidad Para sa OFW at Pamilya.”

A total of 33 job titles awaiting for skilled and non-skilled workers to work abroad with local recruitment agencies like TMJ Manpower International Services, C & J promotions (Philippines), Inc., and PERT/CPM manpower Services.

Line agencies as institutional partners of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will also be setting up booths/tables providing the usual services which include Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC), Home development Mutual Fund (PAG-IBIG/HDMF), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), National Statistics Office (NSO), technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Maritime Industry (MARINA) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the social partners which include bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) and banco de Oro (BDO).

OWWA Regional Director Hassan Jumdain said there will also hiring of Domestic Helpers (DH) and interested applicants should be 23 years old and above.

“This is a big opportunity as we remain to be of service not only to OFWs but also to our local residents,” Jumdain said.
