Congressman Erbie Fabian yesterday called on the residents to adopt precautionary measures for the preventive of diseases borne from stagnant waters as the rainy season has indeed come.

Fabian said dormant water can bring about dengue which is being spread by mosquitoes and leptospirosis which is the result of urine coming from rats.
“Aside from cough and cold, these are the different diseases the people might get especially the children. That is why proper sanitation and hygiene is required to avoid them,” Fabian said.

According to Fabian, this is the reason why his office purchased at least five fogging machines to help combat mosquitoes and its breeding ground.
He said several barangay officials from both districts have gone to the office to borrow the equipment for fogging operations in their respective communities.

“I am sure that cleanliness is still the best policy. That is why I urge the barangay leaders to lead the people in cleaning their surroundings and to destroy the breeding places of mosquitoes to avoid dengue. Those who have wounds in their legs or feet should avoid walking in stagnant waters to avoid from leptospirosis caused by urine from rats,” Fabian said.

The congressman who is a registered nurse said at the first sign of sickness immediately consult the doctor for proper medication.
