The Department of Tourism IX (DOT) is set to conduct Fiesta Engrande on May 19 to be conducted at Plaza Pershing, Paseo del Mar, and Fort Pilar Courtyard.

The Fiesta Engrande will start with a Fiesta Parada, 2:45 PM at the Plaza Pershing, followed by the Juego de Antes, 3:00 PM at Paseo del Mar and Bailes de Ayer, 6 PM at Fort Pilar Courtyard.

The parade will be participated by a marching band together with government officials, game officials, game participants, government offices, private offices, schools, and people’s organization.

The games in the Juego de Antes will include catch the dragon’s tail, siatong, sungka, jack stone, pickup sticks and others. The games will also include a Pinoy Amazing Race to include tumba lata, buscahan goma, paya race, sipa, tsinelas relay, chinese garter, kakanin eating contest, tuba drinking, and tire race.

The prizes for the Pinoy Amazing Race are P10,000 for the first prize, P7,500 for the second prize, and P5,000 for the third prize. Consolation prize of a t-shirt It’s more fun in the Philippines will also be given. 

During the evening, cultural dances will also be featured through the Bailes de Ayer to showcase Filipino culture and heritage.

DOT IX Acting Regional Director Mary June Bugante said that this is the continuation of the summer festival that the city has initiated where juego de antes was also played.

The activity is in coordination with the City Government of Zamboanga and the DOT IX.
