RPN/DXXX - Zamboanga celebrates 38th year anniversary

Radio Philippines Network, Inc. (RPN) which operates radio station DXXX-AM every 7:30 to 10 o'clock in the evening from Monday to Friday and television channel 5 has celebrated its 38th year founding anniversary last August 16, this year at Park 88 in Pasonanca, this city.

It was a celebration of surprises as members of the local media led by RPN Station Manager Jerry Lacastesantos, Brigada News Manager Dan Vicente, Hermie Ventura, Ronda Arnold "Ace" Francisco, Ronda Wang and Ronda Mon sung with a live band.

The occasion was considered as a tripple treat celebration as District 2 councilor Elong Natividad and Brigada news reporter Sai Cortez celebrated their natal day.

While other media friends enjoyed videoke until wee hours in the morning. Here are some of the photos taken by Monch L. Follosco.



Happy 18th birthday Christian Loiue

Celebrating his 18th birthday today, is CHRISTIAN LOUIE CAMINS FOLIENTE. Born August 18, 1996 in Zamboanga City, he spent his elementary and secondary education at the Sto. Niño Village School in Putik, this city and was a 1st year College student of Ateneo de Zamboanga University. He is the only son of Ms GRACE CAMINS –FOLIENTE, nephew of Col. REY CAMINS and KELLY CAMINS FRANCISCO. His  twin cousins  KRISTAL and KRISTEL CAMINS FRANCISCO were former models.
CHRIS LOUIE the look-alike of COCO MARTIN, tried his luck in show business last year and was lucky enough. He is now one of the mainstay of GMA -7 Walang Tulugan with Master Showman GERMAN MORENO  which is shown every Saturday midnight. His showbiz name is CHRIS LOUIE CAMINS. At a young age, he now rub elbows with some of GMA Artist like BARBY FORTALEZA, JAKE VARGAS, KEN CHAN, JACKIE LOU BLANCO and topnotch Director JOEL LLAMANGAN.

EUSEBIO “BHOIE “ TANGON celebrated his birthday last Thursday, August 14, 2014 with a dinner celebration at their residence in Tetuan this city.
The birthday bash was hosted by his loving wife DIOSY TANGON and only child  KX TANGON –BUCOY.
BHOIE who is connected with Human Rights Office invited his friends over most prominently his friends from the MAHAL group ERNIE and GLORIA JULIAN ALLAZAS, JOHN and PERLA PICOS  RUIZ, former Councilor REY CANDIDO and wife the  former EVA NATIVIDAD, FREDERICK “DAXS” DACULAN and wife KATHY DURAN-DACULAN, ALBERT and FAYE NICOLAS, PILAR TANGON, REX and your columnist.
A night of fun, good food and flowing drinks were experienced by all the guests and well-wishers  present.

he Career Executive and Professional
He is a lawyer and a CPA. He has a CSEE eligibility and is a top-ranked graduate of the Development Academy of the Philippines,(Master in Public Management ) He has been with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) since 1993. He had served as Head , Davao Extension Office and has been Officer-In-Charge of the PED since August 2000. He is the newly designated Spokesperson of SEC” Memorandum of SEC Chairman LILIA R. BAUTISTA to the President endorsing Atty. EMILIO AQUINO as Compliance and Enforcement Director.  EMIL’s initiative in conceptualizing and implementing the CAMPAIGN Program earned him his nomination to the Civil Service Commission Lingkod  Bayan Award for the 1999 Search for Outstanding  Public Officials and Employees.

The Humanitarian
Whether its YOLANDO, SENDONG, the Jolo Flash Flood, the infamous Zamboanga Seige, etc. EMIL the Scouter, Rotarian, IBP President  and PICPAN was there helping out in the relief operations. He also love to spend his time mentoring his adopted children in the BSP Zamboanga, Emergency Service Corp-Interact Club of Zamboanga City West , the Rotary Club of Zamboanga City West,  SCC Rotaract and Ineract Clubs all of whom were recognized as Most Outstanding Clubs in Rotary International District 3850.

EMIL has been to Washington DC and New York (April –May 2001), Singapore (2012), The City of Lights Fair Paris (July 2004), Kyoto Japan (April 2000), Seoul, South  Korea (Oct. 2002) Taipei, Taiwan (May 2014), Sydney, Australia ( August 2004), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (April 2012) Hyderabad , India ( May 2003) Amazing Thailand (November 2010) and Macau (November 2012).

EMIL  Simply Outstanding
From prep to grad school EMIL was a consistent honor student and academic  scholar, graduating  just either first or second in his class.
He was able, however, to strike a good balance between his academic  and extra curricular activities as he took top leadership positions in school organizations and later on in government service and in the business sector as well as in his accounting and law firm. He embraced the same work ethic and discipline for his involvement in professional, fraternal, civic, alumni and youth development  groups.
Whatever he resolves to undertake, he pursues with passion and brings home the top honors or accolade. Not only is he brilliant but bold as well, even if that means rejecting pressures from the highest office of the land. He has his lighter side too as he loves to sing and dance… and yes, he rakes in national titles with his group… plus  he was once a bowling champ too. He is simply outstanding.

Happy 50th Birthday Atty. EMILIO AQUINO, CPA, celebrated his 50th birthday last July 23, 2014 and was gifted by her family with a birthday celebration at the Roof Top of Lantaka Hotel by the Sea. Aside from the grand celebration of Thanksgiving and fellowship, a magazine highlighting his life as a Student, Traveler, Career Executive and Professional, Humanitarian, Legal Spouse and family was prepared by his daughter MARIA CARMINA “CHUM” AQUINO, his wife MARIA BRENDALYN AQUINO, as Editor-in –Chief and Managing Editor with the help of GARICK VILLA and REY-AN REBOLLOS as photographer and Lay-Out Artist. I was one of the many invited during the affair and was lucky to have a copy of the magazine which I would like to share you today.

THROWBACK 60’s – The Origin

Fondly called EMIL, MILES or MILING, our Golden Boy, EMILIO BENITO AQUINO first saw the light of the day in their family residence in Canelar, Zamboanga City on a Thursday, the 23rd of July 1964. Born to the late Atty. JESUS ALVAREZ AQUINO (erstwhile outstanding  City Councilor) and the former CARMEN SANSON BENITO, a secondary school teacher, our birthday celebrator is the middle child in a family of three, with DR. IRENE AQUINO-ANACAN as eldest sister and Engr. JOSE AQUINO, their youngest.


Atty. EMILJO BENITO AQUINO, CPA, CSEE is a alumnus of the Immaculate Conception Elementary School Class of 1976 where he graduated with Second Honors. He competed his secondary education at the Universidad de Zamboanga as High School Class Valedictorian. He was also then conferred the Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank in the Scouting Movement. He went to the same University for his Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting, graduating Magna Cum Laude and class Valedictorian In 1984. He took the CPA Licensure Exams that same year and hurdled it with a rating of 89.14%,Also while in College he became the Corps Commander of the UZ PAF Citizen Military Training Unit (Air Division) as such, he was awarded twice by then President FERDINAND MARCOS as Cadet of the year for 1983 and 1984. Later, he finished his law studies at the San Beda College of Law where he was a consistent Dean’s Lister and Silver Medalist. He took the 1992 Bar Exams (considered one of the toughest in bar history with passing percentage of  only 17.2%  and placed 16th among the Top Twenty  examinees. Under a government scholarship, he earned his Master’s Degree in Public Management at the Development Academy of the Philippines , graduating at the top of his class. He was also sent to the University of Sydney in Australia where he was conferred a Certificate of Study on Effective Governance. Moreover, he completed the Management Development Program of the Asian Institute of Management  (AIM) in 2002.
