Lola Duarda marks 90th birthday in style

LUZGARDA PELAYO, known to grandchildren as Lola Duarda .celebrated her 90th birthday last May 17 at Patio Palmeras in Santa Maria.

Seven (living) of the eleven children of Lola Duarda were present to welcome the relatives, friends and other well wishers of the birthday celebrator.

They were Corazon Pelayo (retired teacher), Carmelita Pelayo (retired teacher), Alicia Pelayo( nurse in New York), Bernardita Pelayo-Mariano (businesswoman), Jorge Pelayo (farmer), Lucia Pelayo-Reyes (nurse in London) and Rome Pelayo (businessman). The deceased children were Quirino Pelayo, Felix Pelayo, Noel Pelayo and Rene Pelayo.

Lola Duarda was serenaded by the members of Sta Maria’s Knights of Columbus and Daughters of Mary Immaculate during the birthday program.

She was presented with nine lighted candles and nine roses representing the nine decades of her life on earth. The presenters were Corazon Pelayo, Carmelita Pelayo, Alicia Pelayo, Lucia Pelayo, Tessie Montano, Marilyn Pelayo, Nerissa Mantilla, Fulveda Pelayo, Bernardita Pelayo, Jorge Pelayo, Romeo Pelayo, Alexander Mariano, Joel Pelayo, Anthony Pelayo, Christopher Pelayo, Christian Pelayo, Vincent Paul Mariano, Chrys Philip Pelayo.

The celebrant’s sister-in-law Pilar Pelayo, 86, presented the bouquet of flowers to Lola Duarda while former City Councilor Jaime Cabato,  Joel Pelayo, Dr. Teresita Montano gave their messages for the birthday celebrant with Bong Bue, the family’s friend acted as the night’s master of ceremony.


Edward & Lea Mae tie matrimonial knot

Ten years ago they first met in a passenger jeepney. Last Wednesday (May 18) they decided to make a final meeting at the altar for their matrimonial vows.

Edward Francisco, working as a supervisor of the local Coca Cola plant, took Lea Mae Laureano, a teacher at the Ayala National High School, to be his wife during a wedding rite at the Our Lady of Purification Parish in Sta. Maria with Fr. Ferdinand Candido as the officiating priest.

Edward's parents Mr. and Mrs Edwin and Georgina Francisco and Lea Mae's parents Mr. Leonido and Susan Laureno took them to the altar.

Standing as principal sponsors were Brenda Cabalo, Pilardo Gaspar, Corazon Aramain, Jose Maria "Bong" Bue, Jessica Rumbaua, Joel Climaco, Myrrann Bernardino,  Marlon Villanueva, Maria Laarni Villanueva and Rogelio Francisco.   

Their secondary sponsors were: (candle) Engr. Leni Garcia and Engr. Janueber Garcia; (veil) Consesa Acbal and SPO4 Abdulhan Acbal; (cord) Anita Jalon-Francisco and Edilberto Jalon-Francisco.  

The Best Man and Maid of Honor were Michael Von Pastor and Eillaine Joy Dofeliz, respectively. The other members of the entourage were:(groom's men) George Allen Francisco, Jason CrisPaulo Pangilinan, Jasper Acbal, Stephen Franz Cortez; (bride's maids) Lexyleen Laureano, Precious Francisco, Krissa Faith delos Santos,and Eunice Francisco.      

The ring bearer was AJ Sotomil while the Bible bearer was Matheo Jay Garcia and Bhastie Ceballos as coin bearer. Little Groom was Keann Mharty Esmael while the flower girls were Rhianne Jade Aguana, Venice Lacastesantos, Cyrielle Gordo, Maria Janelle Mesa.

The wedding reception followed at the Astoria Regency in Pasonanca where a program was held and hosted by Ramsyss Andaya.

The years has turned gold for Mrs. BETILDA SANSON when she turned 50 years old last May 19, 2016. In thanksgiving to God for all the blessings she has received, a birthday celebration was tendered by his best half Mr. WILFRIDO SANSON at the elegant CRYSTAL BALLROOM of GRAND ASTORIA HOTEL.

The birthday celebrator BETILDA , BETH to all her English co-teachers at Zamboanga City High School Main and DANG to all her relatives and friends.

The birthday celebrator BETH is described by her family, relatives, nephews and nieces as Generous,  loya, friendly and helpful by her co-teachers, faithful, loving and best Chef from by her husband. In his speech, WIL said “ she can turn simple ingidients to delicious viands. She is not a demanding wife, her simple joy is to have a new pair of shoes with matching bag.”

During the celebration a short program was held with dance presentations and song numbers from her nephews and nieces, God children, co teachers and messages from VICTOR IAN SALVADOR, AL VIEN JPU HIÑON, LUCYBELLE PANDAY, Mrs. LEONIDA T.RICO and husband Mr. WILFRIDO SANSON. There were also fun games with corresponding prizes and give- aways.

The birthday celebrator’s sister ROSE who delivered  the Thanksgiving prayer was the party planner and coordinator.

To ma’am BETH , may God’s goodness and kindness follow you all the days of your life. Happy birthday. LIM ANG.


SME Dumaguete blessing and inauguration

My husband REX and I  took the plane to Cebu last month together with my close friends who are all members of the MAHAL Group-BHOIE and DIOSY TANGON, BERT and FAYE NICOLAS, Rev. Fathers BEN VILLAFLORES, MICHAEL UFANA and TOTONGSOLIVA and friends  MEINRAD and PILAR PANTELEON and MAGDALENA CALLUENG.
Arriving in the evening we stayed overnight  at Palazzo’s and took the morning flight to Dumaguete the following morning to attend to the blessing and inauguration of SOUTHERN MINDANAO ENTERPRISES –DUMAGUETE  owned by enterprising couple ERNESTO and GLORIA JULIAN ALLAZAS.

The inauguration and blessing event of their new warehouse and office was held in the morning with the three priest from Zamboanga  and the parish priest of Dumaguete officiating in the con-celebrated mass.

The Ribbon Cutting of the very spacious office and warehouse were done by National Sales Manager ED YONZON, Deputy National Sales Manager MEL SUMANG, Territory Sales Manager NORMAN NEIL GUISON, GLORIA ALLAZAS, ERNESTO ALLAZAS and MICHAEL ALLAZAS.

A  sumptuous lunch was served to all the guest  who graced the occasion.

To Mr. ERNESTO  and Mrs. GLORIA ALLAZAS, MICHAEL and ANN ALLAZAS thank you for being our gracious hosts during our three- day stay in the City of Gentle People -Dumaguete and two- night stay in the Queen City of the South –Cebu.
