Happy 50th Birthday Atty. EMILIO AQUINO, CPA, celebrated his 50th birthday last July 23, 2014 and was gifted by her family with a birthday celebration at the Roof Top of Lantaka Hotel by the Sea. Aside from the grand celebration of Thanksgiving and fellowship, a magazine highlighting his life as a Student, Traveler, Career Executive and Professional, Humanitarian, Legal Spouse and family was prepared by his daughter MARIA CARMINA “CHUM” AQUINO, his wife MARIA BRENDALYN AQUINO, as Editor-in –Chief and Managing Editor with the help of GARICK VILLA and REY-AN REBOLLOS as photographer and Lay-Out Artist. I was one of the many invited during the affair and was lucky to have a copy of the magazine which I would like to share you today.
THROWBACK 60’s – The Origin
Fondly called EMIL, MILES or MILING, our Golden Boy, EMILIO BENITO AQUINO first saw the light of the day in their family residence in Canelar, Zamboanga City on a Thursday, the 23rd of July 1964. Born to the late Atty. JESUS ALVAREZ AQUINO (erstwhile outstanding City Councilor) and the former CARMEN SANSON BENITO, a secondary school teacher, our birthday celebrator is the middle child in a family of three, with DR. IRENE AQUINO-ANACAN as eldest sister and Engr. JOSE AQUINO, their youngest.
Atty. EMILJO BENITO AQUINO, CPA, CSEE is a alumnus of the Immaculate Conception Elementary School Class of 1976 where he graduated with Second Honors. He competed his secondary education at the Universidad de Zamboanga as High School Class Valedictorian. He was also then conferred the Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank in the Scouting Movement. He went to the same University for his Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting, graduating Magna Cum Laude and class Valedictorian In 1984. He took the CPA Licensure Exams that same year and hurdled it with a rating of 89.14%,Also while in College he became the Corps Commander of the UZ PAF Citizen Military Training Unit (Air Division) as such, he was awarded twice by then President FERDINAND MARCOS as Cadet of the year for 1983 and 1984. Later, he finished his law studies at the San Beda College of Law where he was a consistent Dean’s Lister and Silver Medalist. He took the 1992 Bar Exams (considered one of the toughest in bar history with passing percentage of only 17.2% and placed 16th among the Top Twenty examinees. Under a government scholarship, he earned his Master’s Degree in Public Management at the Development Academy of the Philippines , graduating at the top of his class. He was also sent to the University of Sydney in Australia where he was conferred a Certificate of Study on Effective Governance. Moreover, he completed the Management Development Program of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in 2002.
