Four Kidnap victims rescued in Zamboanga del Norte

PDFPrintE-mail

Four kidnap victims, who were held captive for nine days in Sirawai town, Zamboanga del Norte, have been escued, the military said.

The Western Mindanao Command's spokesperson, Capt. Jo-Ann Petinglay, said as troops continue their rescue operations against lawless elements in Zamboanga Peninsula area, four kidnap victims were rescued in Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.

Petinglay identified the rescued kidnap victims as Roger Jung-an; Jomar Maglangit; Jomar Mantangan; and Raymond Purisima who were left by their disoriented captors after soldiers and policemen had been relentlessly pursuing them since their abduction.

Accordingly, the four are chainsaw operators and laborers, all residents of Barangay San Vicente, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte, who were abducted at the vicinity of Barangay Panabutan of Sirawai last March 3, 2018.

“They were originally five when they were kidnapped however, one of them was hit in the crossfire during an encounter between our soldiers and their captors last March 7,” said Major General Roseller Murillo, commander of the Joint Task Force Zampelan.

The Barangay chair of Libucon and Sirawai Mayor Ganihim contacted the soldiers of 42nd Infantry Battalion for the turn over of the four kidnap victims who were found by residents of Libucon.

“The lawless elements under a certain Jamilon Wahab panicked aside from becoming weary with the ongoing pursuit operations and left their victims before they flee,” added Murillo.

The rescued kidnap victims immediately underwent medical check-up while military intelligence operatives and police investigators conducted debriefing.

Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez, Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command, said the troops and  policemen are still tracking the kidnappers as of this report.

“Let this be a warning to anyone or any group who are planning to engage in any criminal activities. We will fix you and we will eventually get you,” Galvez said.

He congratulated Murillo, his men and the policemen of Zamboanga del Norte Province for the rescue of four kidnap victims. Hader Glang
