Top officials of the Knights of Columbus from Zamboanga City has attended the 9th National Convention held at the historic Manila Hotel last April 27-29, 2012.

The convention is being held every 3 years and is rotated from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The following Knights attended the convention – SK PEDRO RODRIQUEZ. JR., - vice supreme master of the Philippines, SK VIC “CATALA” LIOZO, JR., district deputy of Z-O1 and Chairman of Caballeros de Colon de Zamboanga, Inc.; SK JOSE Q. TAN, JR., faithful navigator of Nuestra Señora Virgen del Pilar Assembly CAN 1993; SK ALEJANDRO NAVATO – District Deputy Z-02; SK VICTOR MONTERO- District Deputy Z-09; SK EDUARD ARNAD – Grand Knight of Ayala Council # 8890, SK NELSON BASA-Grand Knight of FR. SALVADOR Council of Santa Maria, SK CEFERINO GO; SK ALVIN TAHIR- chairman on ceremonials, SK JOEY AQUINO, secretary of Father Paguia Council # 3363; SK MARIO CABANLIT, SK JUNJIE BALENTON, SK GUILLERMO GADIN and SK SAMMY CABALLEROS.

Supreme Knight CARL A. ANDERSON was the main Guest of Honor and Speaker during the convention. ANDERSON is based in New Heaven Connecticut, USA. In his speech he made mention that the Order Knights of Columbus (K of C) in the Philippines is now the second largest in terms of membership in the world.

There are now 288,000 Knights and hopefully it will be 300,000 by next year and the number is not important but the service of the catholic men to their family and society, ANDERSON said. He further emphasized that as a respected and articulate voice of the Catholic faithful, the Knights of Columbus will continue to defend the Church’s teaching, bishops and priests. He said the K of C will be at the forefront to hear the voice of the Church amidst threats to block the Church’s involvement in controversial issues related to family life.

The 10th National Convention will be in General Santos City by 2015.
