Candidate number 3 Miss KATRINA THERISSE KHO, a high school student of St. Joseph School – Zamboanga City Division was crowned as  Ms. MATH & SCIENCE Festival 2012, during the 7th Regional Mathematics and Science Festival held last September 1, 2012 at the Zamboanga City Coliseum in Tetuan, this city.

KATRINA THERISSE KHO bested 11 other candidates representing other schools from all over the region. Aside from winning the prestigious title and crown, she also romped away with several minor and special awards like Miss Friendship, Best In Production Number, Miss Body Beautiful and Best in Street Wear.

Other winners were: Angelic beauty FRATTIANE MARIE TRIAMBULO of St. Mary’s Academy – Dipoloy division 1st Runner Up and Best In School Uniform; porcelain beauty JUDY JOYCE SUICO of Zamboanga State College of Marine Science and Technology, 2nd Runner Up and Best in Dazzling Magical Costume; winsome CRISTINE RICABORDA of Zion Evangelical School – Zamboanga Division -3rd Runner Up  and beautiful LADY MARVELOU BARROSA of Zamboanga Del Norte High School –Dipolog Division 4th Runner Up and Miss Photogenic.

Standing regal with a height of 5 feet 5 inches, she got the nod of the judges in the Question and Answer portion and deportment on stage.

The Board of Judges were: Hon. Councilor VICENT PAUL ALTEA ELAGO, former beauty queen Dr. MAYBELLE BAUTISTA-TEE, DR. RONALD F. ABA-A, Fashion Designer NILO LACSON and your columnist.

The Search for Ms. MATH & SCIENCE Festival is a beauty and brain competition and is the  highlight of the  yearly Science and Mathematics camp.

Bearing the theme: “Be Dazzled by the Magic of Math & Science” this year Science and Mathematic Festival was hosted by Zamboanga City High School led by Dr. FELISA I. MUNAR, secondary school principal IV together with MA. DOLORES J. GREGORIO, math club adviser, ELIZABETH M. RACILES, secondary school head teacher IV and Prof. RUBEN ANGELES, president of the Science Club Adviser’s Association of the Philippines-Zamboanga Peninsula Chapter.

Ms. JENNY DUNQUE and Mr. MALCOLM REYES did a good and marvelous job as Toastmasters of the search.
