As the lead agencies supervising the celebration of “Migrant Workers’ Day,” last June 7, 2012, the Oversees Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE0 and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) completed the occasion with excellent workforce by its personnel and staff.

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families, applicants and guests trooped to the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) gymnasium as early as 8 o’clock in the morning for registration.

This year’s theme: OFW, sa sipag at galling, bilib kami sa’yo,” showcasing one-stop-shop and job fair. OWWA Regional Director Hassan Gabra Jumdain said the government paid tribute to the country’s remarkable workforce of more than 9.5 million OFW’s in about 190 countries worldwide.
“We salute the OFWs and their families as we remain to be of service for the next 30 years or more,” Jumdain added as he thanked all the institutional and social partners including the media.

The occasion started with a registration of participants followed by a program proper with ecumenical prayer led by OFW Federation President Ladjakaya Abubakar.

DOLE-IX Regional Director Sisinio Cano led the welcome remarks followed by the reading of messages of DOLE Secretary and POEA Administrator led by POEA Head Renegold Macarulay and Director Cano with OWWA Regional Director Hassan Gabra Jumdain for OWWA Administrator Carmelita Dimson’s message.
